Bio for Walt Wood
Hi, my name is Walt Wood. I am married to Denise and we have four daughters, Grace, Rebekah, Abigail and Elizabeth. My wife and I both grew up on farms and love the country! We live just outside of Eau Claire in an old farm house which we share with 2 dogs, 2 guinea pigs, 1 cat and 3 fish!
In the fall of 2008 we became foster parents and are currently caring for 2 boys and a baby girl!
I have been self-employed my whole life. I am founder and sole-operator of Elite Service where I repair consumer electronics and sell, install and repair car audio.
I was blessed by being born into a Christian family. I have 2 younger brothers and the youngest is our sister. Born in Virginia, we moved to Wisconsin when I was seven.
I accepted Christ as Lord and Saviour at the age of 10 and was baptized. I have continued to grow in my faith and commitment to God. I have served as Sunday school teacher, AWANA helper, Deacon, Overseer, Elder and on various committees and teams.
Family is very important to me. We came to Calvary in 2004 to worship with family! My brother George and his family are ministry partners as are Denise's sister Susan Carey and her family.
I have been an Elder at Calvary since 2007. It is always a challenge to balance church leadership, family and work. Sometimes I don't do very well, but God is faithful and I continue to move forward with his power. It is great to work with a bunch of Christian leaders at Calvary who have such a heart for God!
I am excited about the plans God has for us and the Chippewa Valley! Our new ministry center is a huge God-size project! Please pray for us as we seek God's direction.
