
The Arrival of the King: The Promise
- God is a God of Promise
- God’s promises are not like man’s promises.
- Numbers 23:19, “God is not a man…Has He said, and will he not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not fulfill it?”
- 1 John 3:20, “God is greater than our heart, and he knows everything.”
- God’s promises are not like man’s promises.
- Jeremiah 1:12, “I am watching over my word to perform it.”
- God is true, faithful, and intervenes into His Creation for His purpose and glory!
- Hebrews 6:18, “it is impossible for God to lie.”
- 1 Corinthians 1:9, “God is faithful”
- Matthew 6:30, “But if God so clothes the grass of the field…will he not much more clothe you?”
- God is powerful, merciful, and loving.
- Psalm 145:8-9, “The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. The Lord is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made.”
- He Told His Promise Through Prophecy
- Genesis 3:15, “I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.”

- Jeremiah 23:5-6, “Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. 6 In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. The people who walked in darkness
have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone.”

- He showed His love and care by sending His Son, the promised Savior.
- Luke 1:26-33, “In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin’s name was Mary. And he came to her and said, “Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!” But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and tried to discern what sort of greeting this might be. And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”
- Mary will conceive even though she is a virgin. (Isaiah 7:14)
